Stakeholders Gallery

This project could not have happened without the support of our partners in the local community and academia. Below are those involved, with a special mention to individuals who were critical to making this project a success.

Dan Arnold

Project Lead. Associate professor of geoscience at Heriot-Watt University and parent of two space-obsessed children, both at Dirleton Primary School.

Amy Breckon
I am a Lecturer in the Textiles department at The Glasgow School of Art. Alongside this I work as a freelance Textile Designer and Illustrator from my studio in Dirleton, I love getting involved in new creative projects.
Keith Kirkwood

UX Design apprentice, local musician, and hammock enthusiast based in East Lothian. He takes payment in caramel wafers, and would like travel tips for Mars.

Chloe MacLachlan

Freelance Graphic designer, and mother of two. My continuing mission: to create new things; to seek out new projects and new opportunities; to boldly design like no one has designed before.

The people who made it happen

Iain Stirling

Iain Stirling is a designer and maker of bespoke furniture, based in East Lothian. Iain was born and bred in East Lothian and has lived in Dirleton for 18 years.

Yasha Duncan-Wilson

Yasha is fulfilling a twenty-five year obsession with space by studying Aerospace Engineering at Heriot-Watt. In their spare time, they lead the university CanSat team and try (usually unsuccessfully) to resist the temptation to buy yet another 3D printer.

Catherine Heymans

Catherine Heymans is the Astronomer Royal for Scotland and Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Edinburgh. She uses some of the world's largest telescope to make deep sky observations and map the invisible dark matter and mysterious dark energy in our Universe.

Ben Sutlieff

Dr Ben Sutlieff is a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Edinburgh. He specialises in direct observations of exoplanets and their atmospheres, using the largest telescopes on Earth and in space to better our understanding of these distant worlds.

Gergely Friss

A PhD student at the University of Edinburgh studying the atmospheres of planets in other systems and the chemistry going on there. I feel passionate about exploring the unknown and sharing what I learn.

Yunhao Zhang

A PhD candidate in astronomy at the University of Edinburgh, working on observational cosmology via weak gravitational lensing and large-scale structures.

Pengyu Lui

A PhD student at the University of Edinburgh, working on the direct imaging and characterisation of giant planets and brown dwarfs from the ground and space.
